Rail strikes to cause chaos for Epsom Derby

Industrial action will affect thousands planning to attend the 2023 Epsom Derby as well as football fans heading to the FA Cup Final at Wembley this weekend.

Rail passengers are once again set to suffer from the actions of rail workers due to long running disputes and disagreements regarding jobs, pay and conditions. Passengers are being warned that there will be significant disruption to most services this weekend and this will certainly have an adverse effect on trains to the capital. Members of union ‘Aslef’ have decided to walk out today and they will once again strike on what is set to be one of the busiest days of the year.

Thousands will be looking to travel to London this weekend for the Epsom Derby, while the FA Cup Final will see a huge number of travellers descending upon the capital from Manchester. Rail passengers are advised to make alternative arrangements for their travel plans.

The rail strikes will affect no less than sixteen operating companies and on Saturday, around 40% of trains will still be running but regional variations will exist. Some train operators will be running no services whatsoever.

This latest strike has been planned to cause the greatest amount of disruption given that it is taking place on what is one of the busiest days of the year for the railways. Football fans and racegoers heading to Wembley and Epsom have been advised not to try and travel by train.
